GazeBar Français

Use your computer with your eyes

GazeBar is free software for Windows. With an eyetracker, you look at a place on the screen, then choose what to do there: click, type, scroll a page. No hands needed.

What GazeBar does

  • Your gaze becomes the mouse

A circle follows your gaze. Look at a place for a short moment, and GazeBar offers actions.

  • Every kind of click

Click, double click, right click, drag and drop, copy and paste.

  • A magnifier for small targets

Small buttons are enlarged so you hit them easily.

  • A gaze keyboard

Type anywhere, with word prediction that saves time.

  • Scrolling

Pages scroll smoothly when you look up or down.

  • Settings with your eyes

Speed, circle size, delays: everything is changed with the eyes, and each person can keep their own profiles. There is a game mode too.

Who is it for?

For people who cannot use their hands: tetraplegia, ALS (motor neurone disease), muscular dystrophy, accidents… and for the family and carers who help them set up their computer.

You need a Windows computer and a Tobii eyetracker. GazeBar is tested every day with a Tobii Dynavox PCEye 5; other models have not been tried yet. The interface is in English and French.

The story

GazeBar is designed by a tetraplegic person with ALS (Charcot disease), for himself. He builds it by voice and gaze, with the help of the AI assistant Claude.

The goal: simple software, shaped by everyday life, where every action takes as little effort as possible. Since November 2026 he uses only GazeBar to control his computer.

GazeBar is free and open source: if you are in the same situation, we hope it can help you too.

Download and install

  1. Install the eyetracker driver from the manufacturer's website.
  2. On the download page, take the file GazeBar-…zip (under "Assets") and unzip it, for example in Documents\GazeBar.
  3. Pause the gaze software supplied with the eyetracker (TD Control, for example).
  4. Start GazeBar.exe. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click "More info", then "Run anyway": GazeBar is not signed yet, this is normal.

The user guide explains everything in detail.

Good to know

GazeBar is not a medical device. It is not certified, comes without any warranty, and must not be the only way to call for help.

GazeBar never records gaze data or typed text. This website uses no cookies and no visitor statistics.
